iPad lover

Hello everyone!

How was your week? I hope you had a nice - and peaceful- week without tests and research assignments.
Today, I will be writing about my favourite piece of technology. Four years ago, I didn't have a close relationship with usual, up to date pieces of technology like mobile phones, laptops and computers and I only used the TV, mostly, for watching series or news. Technology wasn't part of my routine when I was in school. Then, when I applied to the university, my mom bought me an iPad and that changed my life forever, hahaha.

iPad is a touch screen tablet PC made by Apple. Basically, it is a netbook without a keyboard. As I said before, I had my first iPad in 2013. I use it every day for reading and sending emails, chatting with my friends and classmates, enjoying photos of my family, watching series and videos, listening to music, playing games, seeing my family and classmates on Skype, basically, for all. But, mainly, for reading e-books. In my opinion, iPad is the best ereader.

In this point, you can call me obsessed with technology because I can't imagine my life without my iPad. One of my big fears is not be able to have a normal life without this piece of technology, all my favourite books and photos are in my iPad.

Enjoy your weekend as much as possible ;)
Best regards!

Adoption in Chile

Hello everybody!

Today I will be writing about adoption. It`s one of the topics that caught my attention since I was a child, I don`t know  exactly why. But, my theory is because I cannot imagine why people, who want to have children don't think about adopting, they only think about biological children. I've been obsessed about this impression about people for years.

Besides, people have many prejudices about adoption. Well, that is true, children given in adoption, in general, come from families with relationship problems with parents who had difficulties during their childhood, where they were neglected, left, or lived situations of abuse. They didn't have the experience of being cared and didn't learn to care about somebody. I hardly believe it isn't necessary to judge their parents for it.

In my opinion, there are two relevant facts about adoption in Chile: The number of adoptions is fairly low. Nowadays, it's near 18.000 children, between 0 and 18 years, who live in protection centers, and only 510 children were given in adoption during 2015. It's a heartbreaking reality. Secondly, it's extremely difficult to have a quick process to adopt. In fact, the shortest waiting time is 24 months, namely two years, and the longest waiting time could be 5 years or more.

Well, this is all for this week. Enjoy your long weekend!

Why I chose psychology?

When I started the university in 2012, I thought I wanted to study Medicine, particulary, forensic medicine, for that reason I applied to "Bachillerato" at Universidad de Chile. In fact, Universidad de Chile was my only option. No matter what, the career or other thing I knew I really wanted to study at Universidad de Chile because I did some classes for EdV (Summer School of Universidad de Chile) like human anatomy, cancer and cancer cells, contemporany literature and cellular medicine. I enjoyed a lot that classes, I made good friends and the atmosphere was nice. Of course, I learned many things about human medicine.
Well, I chose sciences at Bachillerato, but the first semester was a nightmare, I hated Math and Physics, and If I'm honest I hated all subjets about sciences. I liked the classes of Sociology and Antropholoy And I loved Psychology classes. After two months, I knew I wanted to study Psychology.
I went to the psychologist of Bachillerato for a few times and talked with her about that. She thought I was satisfied with my choice (and this is very unlikely because I'm always obssesive and anxious). Then, in 2013, I applied to Psychology.
Now, I'm in 3th year and this is THE career of my life. I can't imagine to study another one. I'm happy because I study a very human career, hahaha. But seriously, it's true, I have learned to see other person as a human, not only as an organism or a body.
In the future, I hope to be a good psychologist and help children.

WHO AM I?

Hi everyone! I'm Maria Gracia, but my nickname is Grace, easier to say and to remember. I'm a student of Psychology at the Chile University. I was born in Lima on Dec 8th, 1994. I’m 21 years old. I`m Peruvian and I have lived in Chile for about nine years. Most of the time I like Chile, it has many amazing places, but sometimes the weather is terrible.

Well, I'm an only child. Now, I live with my Mom. Her name is Ingrid. She's a nurse and works in the Roberto del Rio Hospital. I have ten cousins. I don't have nephews or nieces at the moment. My oldest cousin, Diana, is 27 years old. She's married with a Chilean man. Her wedding was last year, it was beautiful!

I love music, series, movies and books. My favourite author is Stephen King. He's the best! I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, and when I'm alone, I love reading.
I prefer fantastic literature. My future plans are to be a great psychologist and move to Germany, any German city.

Have a nice week :)
